An arrest warrant against a 31-year-old man was issued by the Police in the context of the investigation of a case of arrival of immigrants from Lebanon to Cape Greco a few days ago.

The 31-year-old, according to the Police, is being investigated for conspiracy to commit a crime, aiding and abetting the illegal entry, transit and illegal stay in the territory of the Republic of Cyprus of a third country national, smuggling of migrants by sea or smuggling .

According to the Police, it was reported to the Paphos Police Department by a 22-year-old foreigner who is in Cyprus with the status of a political asylum seeker, that together with another person they gave a 31-year-old compatriot in Cyprus the total amount of 950 euros to help transporting their relatives from Lebanon by boat to Ayia Napa.

ΕξετάAfter examinations, it was found that on August 22, two persons arrived in Ayia Napa in two boats.
As part of an agreement with Lebanon on the repatriation of migrants arriving in Cyprus, a boat was chartered with 88 people on board and departed accompanied by a Coast Guard and Maritime Police officer.

Among the persons who were on the boats were the relatives of the 22-year-old, who made the complaint.

TAE Paphos issued an arrest warrant for the 31-year-old who is facing the offenses of conspiracy to commit a crime, aiding and abetting illegal entry, transit and illegal stay in the territory of the Republic of Cyprus, the category of smuggling smuggling on an unsafe or overloaded vessel.

The examinations are continued by the Paphos Crime Detection Department.
