Members of the Coastal and Maritime Police identified and picked up 19 illegal immigrants yesterday afternoon, whom they transported safely to the fishing shelter of Paralimni.

The small boat with 19 people on board (14 men and 5 unaccompanied minors) had run aground about 8,5 nautical miles southeast of Cabo Greco.

During the escorting of the illegal immigrants by the members of the Port and Maritime Police, and due to the prevailing weather conditions, it was deemed appropriate for their own safety, that the occupants of the boat boarded the Akato of the Port Authority where they were safely brought ashore while then they were taken to the Pournara Hospitality Center.
