E. Famagusta: 38-year-old in court for human trafficking, sexual exploitation and pimping

The Police proceeded today with the immediate registration for adjudication of a case of human trafficking, sexual exploitation, pimping, living off the profits of prostitution, and money laundering from illegal activities. The case was registered on Wednesday morning, before the Nicosia District Court.

Accused of the crimes under trial is a 38-year-old man, who was arrested the previous day, at the end of last June, by members of the Police, following evidence against him. With the registration of the case this morning, the Court ordered that he remain in custody as a defendant, until the next trial.

In relation to the facts of the case, criminal proceedings were also brought against two other persons, for the offense of soliciting services from a victim of human trafficking.

A 30-year-old woman was identified as a possible victim of human trafficking and sexual exploitation after examinations carried out by specialized members of the Police.

The case was investigated by the TAE Famagusta and the Anti-Trafficking Office of the Police Headquarters.
