The curtain fell on the 8th round of lectures of the Salamis Free University of Famagusta in Paralimni

The fourth and last lecture of the Salamis Free University of Famagusta was held on the afternoon of Friday, May 17, 2019, organized for the eighth consecutive year by the Holy Diocese of Constantia and Famagusta in collaboration with the University of Cyprus.

The event took place in the event hall of the Municipality of Paralimni. At the origin of the participants, those who had completed the required attendance, received the relevant diploma of attendance.

Speakers were the mayors of the free province of Famagusta, Paralimni Theodoros Pyrillis, Deryneia Andros Karagiannis and Sotiras Georgios Takkas, who developed the topic "Free Province of Famagusta, Problems and Prospects". The mayor of Ayia Napa, Giannis Karousos, due to another extraordinary obligation, was not able to attend.

In their statements, the mayors referred in detail to issues and chronic pathogenic conditions that plague the local government, mainly from 1974 onwards, due to the consequences of the Turkish invasion. However, they mentioned the infrastructure and development projects that were implemented or are in the phase / planning / planning of their implementation, in order to improve as much as possible the lives of residents and visitors but also to promote our country abroad.

Welcoming the event, the Metropolitan of Constantia and Famagusta Vassilios, expressed his gratitude to the higher education institution of Cyprus for the co-organization of this institution, emphasizing the need to seek a permanent renewal so as not to lose interest and not grow old as an institution. He referred to the innovations of this year's cycle of lectures with the reduction of meetings from eight to four but also to the opening of the institution to young people, students and soldiers with a dominant theme of vocational guidance.

In his own short greeting, Tassos Christofidis, Rector of the University of Cyprus, congratulated the Holy Diocese of Constantia for co-organizing these lectures which are a living example of the power of participatory education, through the way they are conducted.
