In a solemn atmosphere, this year the great Despotic feast of Palms or "the Olive" as it came to be known in Cyprus was celebrated again, which spiritually introduces us to the end of the earthly life of the Lord, which is the most decisive for him as well as for every human being.
The center of the celebration was the holy church of the Transfiguration of the Savior in the municipality of the same name, where the established solemn Divine Liturgy was presided over by the Most Reverend Metropolitan of Constantia and Famagusta Mr. Vasileios.
On this day before the Turkish invasion of 1974, there was a great celebration and a brilliant celebration in the currently occupied parish of Agios Memnonos Famagusta. Thus, the remaining displaced residents of the parish of Agios Memnonos celebrate this great holiday every year in the welcoming Church of the Transfiguration of the Savior.
