There is no intention to close the Hemodialysis Unit at the General Hospital of Famagusta, clarifies OKYPY, noting that the Unit will be upgraded, as was done in other specialties of the Hospital.

A written announcement of OKYPY regarding the operation of the Nephrology Department at the General Hospital of Famagusta and on the occasion of the protest of dialysis of the free province of Famagusta states that "there is no intention to close the Hemodialysis Unit, but to upgrade it to other specialties" .

It added that "the problem arose when one of the two nephrologists left due to retirement and his unwillingness to continue with the purchase of services, despite the efforts of the Organization".

According to OKYPY "there is coverage by a nephrologist and no patient will be left without medical care. "The issue will be settled and we are making huge efforts to find a nephrologist, where it is a hard-to-find specialty", it is reported, noting that "the position has been published and we hope for a successful outcome".

It is also stated that "within the framework of the continuous upgrade of the health services offered, in cooperation with the Management of the Hospital, medical equipment will be replaced, where necessary".
