The institution of the Salamis Free University of Famagusta, which is jointly organized by the Holy Diocese of Constantia in collaboration with the University of Cyprus, opened its gates last Thursday for the 7th consecutive year in Paralimni.
The opening ceremony took place on Thursday, October 19, 2017, at the Cultural Center of the Metropolis (Parodos Avenue, Protaras Street, behind the headquarters of SPE Kokkinochoria), where the next lectures will take place.
The beginning of this year's lectures was welcomed by the Most Venerable Metropolitan of Constantia and Famagusta Mr. Vassilios and Mrs. Doxa Komodromou Officer of the Events Office of the University of Cyprus.
Topic of the first lecture "Famagusta Province: Development, Problems and Prospects" with speakers the Commissioner for Environment Mrs. Ioanna Panagiotou, the Commissioner for Volunteering Mr. Giannis Giannakis and the Vice President of the Cyprus Tourism Organization Mr. Costas Koumiris. problems that are present today in the free province of Famagusta in relation to the development and progress in various sectors and raised views, concerns and proposals that could be used to alleviate the problems, improve and create new infrastructure.
The general coordination of the event was the philologist-journalist Marinos Pavlikkas.
A discussion ensued between the speakers and the participants.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by, among others, the first councilor Archim. Augustinos Kkaras, clergy of the Diocese, Dysi MP Mr. George Karoulas, the former Throne Commissioner Mr. Adamos Loizou, the President and members of the Social Ministry, teachers and participants in the new 7th Circle of the Free University of Salamis.
The event which will be broadcast live on the website of the Metropolis and Metropolitan Agios Georgios with the technical support of Mr. Leonidas Nikas and his associates and Radio Politia which is a sponsor and supporter of the institution.
