Due to this misinformation, they told "F", they were unjustly targeted by citizens who asked for explanations, from social media, for the reasons that while there is a lot of money, the funds of the municipalities are empty.

In particular, the General Accounting Office of the Republic made public last Wednesday the payments in excess of € 1 million made by the state, during the year 2018, to natural and legal persons.

According to these figures, 29 of the 30 free municipalities are shown to have received the total amount of € 122 million as a state grant. However, the state sponsorship granted to the 30 municipalities for the year 2018 amounts to a total of € 53,5 million according to the data published by the General Accounting Office of the Republic on 29/3/2019 and related to the sponsorships paid by the ministries. for the year in question.

The difference of approximately € 70 million that arises, according to the complaining mayors, concerns taxes paid as well as payments for various services offered by municipalities to ministries, government departments and services.

Therefore, according to the General Accounting Office, the amount of € 122 million paid by the state in the year 2018 to the 29 free municipalities was distributed as follows:
