Heavy hail occurred recently in Sotira and Paralimni but also in other areas of Famagusta province.

The weather

Weak high blood pressure affects the area.

Today the weather will initially be partly cloudy with medium and high clouds, while soon it will become partly cloudy with occasional local rains and thunderstorms. Hail is expected to fall in a storm. The winds will initially blow mainly northwesterly, weak and locally up to moderate 3 to 4 degrees, to become from noon to south, southwesterly to northwesterly to moderate, 3 to 4 degrees, up to 4 and up to 5 degrees. The sea will be a little turbulent from the evening and then, locally in the winds, until turbulent. The temperature will rise to 20 degrees inland and on the coast and to 9 degrees in the higher mountains.

Tonight the weather will be mostly clear with locally increased clouds. The winds will blow mainly northwest, weak and locally up to moderate, 3 to 4 degrees. The sea will generally be a little turbulent. The temperature will drop to around 10 degrees inland and on the coast and to 3 degrees in the higher mountains where frost may occur locally.

On Saturday the weather will be partly cloudy and at times mostly cloudy and local rains and thunderstorms are expected. Hail is expected to fall in a storm.

On Sunday, clouds that will develop from µeserieri and beyond may give an individual rain or even a thunderstorm, mainly in the mountains and inland.

On Monday the weather will be mostly clear while clouds that will develop from the evening and after, may give a rainy season.

The temperature will not change significantly at the weekend while on Monday it will rise slightly to be a little below the average climatic values.
