Twenty-four people tested negative for coronavirus after the official results were sent by the Institute of Neurology and Genetics.

According to information from Famagusta.News, after the confirmation by the Institute of Neurology and Genetics for the existence of a patient-confirmed case of coronavirus at the private hospital Santa Santa in Paralimni, all the required procedures were followed and the clinic was quarantined for 24 people. medical and nursing as well as other staff of the clinic were subjected to self-restraint, until the announcement of the results of the examination.

However, the results from the Institute of Neurology and Genetics proved negative for all 24 people. Specifically, it is about the doctor and 5 nurses who came in direct contact with the woman who was infected with the Coronavirus, while samples were sent for another 18 people as a precaution. Contact is considered to be the person in the same area with a confirmed case less than two meters away, and for fifteen minutes.

According to Famagusta.News, the private clinic from the beginning followed a strict protocol of safety and health and protection against coronavirus, as well as strict personal protection measures, which prevented the occurrence of a case in the hospital.

In fact, on the same day as the confirmation of the case, it was quarantined, all the staff was restricted and the appropriate sampling for COVID-19 and disinfection team took the necessary measures to disinfect all areas of the clinic.

The history of the confirmed case

According to the information, on Monday, March 16, a patient was admitted who had returned a week ago from a trip from Great Britain, in an emergency situation due to another pre-existing disease that needed immediate treatment. The patient's condition had no symptoms suggestive of the virus COVID-19. A protocol had already been implemented in the clinic to prevent and prevent the transmission of the virus COVID-19 for which all the staff was informed, to which, in addition to the instructions, all the necessary PPE (Personal Protection Measures) were given. The next day the patient developed a fever and without delay contacted the "Institute of Neurology and Genetics" where samples were sent by the patient for detection of the virus, which were positive on Thursday, March 19, with the patient being admitted to Famagusta General Hospital.

The clinic is reopening

An announcement from the hospital states that "The results of the treating physician and the nursing staff who came in direct contact with the patient who tested positive for the virus are negative COVID-19" and was admitted to Famagusta General Hospital.

It is added that "After consultation with the Ministry of Health, the treating physician and the nursing staff who came in direct contact with the patient will remain in self-restraint until 30/3/2020. The ward will remain closed until 29/3/2020 and the outpatient clinics will be open from tomorrow Monday 23 March ".

In the announcement the hospital calls "Patients, if they have traveled in the last 14 days to a country with an active epidemic or if they have a runny nose, fever, cough, sore throat or difficulty breathing, should not visit the clinic, but should call 1420."
