SigmaLive contacted Mr. Karousos, who stated that the proposal of the Mayor of Paralimni, which concerns the unification of Municipalities, aims to create a superstructure that will replace the Diocese of Famagusta, "so that there is no Famagusta at the end", Famagusta with a Municipality in which Paralimni will lead as he characteristically said.
"Paralimni with its proposal and with a population of 15,000 will have the absolute control of the decisions against the citizens of Ayia Napa, Sotira and Deryneia. Since based on the population census it has more than 50%. He will also gain absolute control in the elections with the registration of new voters, since I believe that he has already analyzed it in depth. In this scenario also Ayia Napa, while it will contribute 40% of the budget, will be represented only by 14%, ie 1 municipal council in 10. That is, the dissolution of Ayia Napa ", he notes.
We will unite with those who want to be part of Ayia Napa and not with those who want to replace it, said Mr. Karousos, emphasizing that the proposal of the Municipality of Paralimni has already provoked strong reactions.

Invited by SigmaLive to comment on what is being attributed to him, the Mayor of Paralimni, noted, "I reject all allegations that are non-existent and it hurts me that a brother succeeds with these words to his brother."
