With a long and at the same time moving message, Theodoros Pyrillis said goodbye through his personal Facebook account, his friend Stathis Spartiatis, who he died on the afternoon of Sunday, November 5th.

This is the message of the Mayor of Paralimni, Theodoros Pyrillis:
"Last greeting to the Spartan Stathis, in the name that is now synonymous with the words ALTROUISM, LEVENTIA, PALIKARIA, MAN.
Today Paralimni is poorer. The night watch stopped at 7:35. It was the moment when the Spartan received Holy Communion from Father Hercules and closed his eyes for the last time. He left for paradise where his father Stathis, his sister Andri, his best men Floros and Iakovos and his bride Chrystallas are waiting for him with open arms.
In the last month that the final battle with the incurable disease began, his family and close friends experienced unique moments. The unique and invincible soul power he had, the way he recovered, gave lessons and experiences to all of us. The doctors said that the end was coming, the insidious disease was throwing him, but the next day he would come back and describe what he had experienced the night before. This has happened repeatedly over the last three weeks. He showed his children in action what mental strength, patience, faith and will mean, something that they will have as a guide for the rest of their lives.

My Sparto, I apologize for not being honest with you in the last few days. Your will and stubbornness to overcome your illness and stay alive did not allow me to tell you the truth when you asked me "where are we going?" Meaning what solutions we have. I did not have the strength and courage to tell you that we are reaching the end and I ask you to forgive me.

The Spartan was born in 1966. Stathis 'father and Chrysoulas' mother had their third child after Elena and Andri. From his childhood, he stands out for his perspicacity and leadership skills through his actions, at school, in scouting and in football.

At the age of 15 he loses his father Stathis and many of his dreams are shattered. Working at a gas station is now part of his daily routine with his uncle Demosthenes, who was his second father. This forces him to give up his teenage dreams. In 1986 he met Konstantia, whom he married in 1991, and they have four children, Demosthenes, Chryso, Stathis and Zouvanis. They create a happy family that is a model for all of us.

His interest in the society of Paralimni and the province of Famagusta continues unabated. He contributes both materially and with personal time to the Councils of the Paralimni Youth Union, to the various Scouting committees, to Parents' Associations, to charitable institutions, to the Association of Gas Station Owners, to the Hunting Federation and to other social groups. He was the leader and coordinator of the Famagusta Claim movement that aims to eliminate the injustices of our province from the state.

Our beloved brother,
You were a brother to your friends and a friend to your acquaintances. You never gave anyone the right to say anything bad. Our pain and sorrow today that we have to say goodbye to you is unbearable. You leave young while you had opportunities to do and offer much more to your job, your family and your community.
You were a University Doctor in the life course. You were an active citizen and you taught us all in an experiential way what morality, dignity, respect, positive thinking, patience and perseverance, claiming rights, volunteering, offering to fellow human beings mean. Realist of life, you had an immediate perception of everything that was happening. Integral with purity and greatness of soul. Culture, kindness and straightforwardness in your ways, your professional ethos, your kindness, your correct and cool judgment, your humor was a balm in our soul. For you, problems were a way of life since you had ready solutions for everything, whether they were yours, or your friends, your acquaintances. "Positive thinking, brother, we will overcome it together" were common phrases for you, but for all of us it was a springboard to continue. We are privileged to be by your side and to know that we are very proud to have been your friends.
We promise you that we will all continue the races you started until we succeed. We assure you that we will all stand by your Constantia and your children and we will be with them in all their struggles.

We have known and been together since our infancy. One look at each other was enough to get along. I thought we were equal and had the same way of thinking. But what I have been experiencing for the last three weeks makes me feel like a dwarf in front of the giant we met.

From today in Paralimni the words ALTROUISM, LEVENTIA, PALIKARIA, ANTHROPIA have as synonym the name SPARTIATIS STATHIS.

Good Heaven brother and good Reunion. ”
