The "Love Dinner" is an institution-custom, which takes place for the last almost 16 years on the initiative of the Association of Chefs of Cyprus, Famagusta Province and always takes place in early February.
It is organized and coordinated by the Cyprus Chefs Association of the Famagusta District, with the main purpose of raising money for the children of the Employment Center "APOSTOLOS PAVLOS".
The Employment Center "APOSTOLOS PAVLOS", for people with mental retardation, was created by the Association of Parents and Friends of the Center and operates in Liopetri since 1989, on a voluntary-charitable basis in order to host, employ and educate people with mental retardation. retardation or other mental illness. This need was created by the gap that existed after the graduation of the people from the Special School "Ap. Barnabas "that the Ministry of Education operates in Liopetri for the province of Famagusta, when they reached the age of 18 years. Today the center accommodates 43 children.
The "Dinner of Love" was embraced by the whole province of Famagusta, giving every year many smiles and infinite "thank you".
Mr. Sotiris Sotiriou, Famagusta provincial of the Cyprus Chefs Association, states:
"The planning and organization starts in November. All materials for dinner are donated by various companies. More than 60 cooks work non-profit because all they want is to give as many smiles as they can.
The fact that most of them are young cooks is also pleasant and this means that the "Dinner of Love" will continue for many more years. It moves me every time they call me and ask: "When are we going to cook for our babies?"
Chef Dimitris Alexandrou and head of the Coordinating Committee, states:
"Every time I feel great joy but also emotion. The joy on the faces of these children and their own is indescribable.
All together like a fist, cooks and children, we managed to make the whole world of the province of Famagusta to love and support the "Dinner of Love" so much.
Chef Panagiotis Aspris, the protagonist of the event, states:
"For 16 years I have always had the same anxiety, the same joy! I am glad to see the children so happy to be by our side, to smile but also the whole world that embraced our effort with so much love.
