The inauguration of the new Youth Information Center of Famagusta Province took place today by the Cyprus Youth Organization in collaboration with the Municipality of Sotiras. The inauguration ceremony thus marks the opening of the first Youth Information Center in the free province of Famagusta.
The inauguration was performed by the Minister of Education and Culture, Costas Kadis, in the presence of the Mayor Sotiras Georgios Takkas and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Organization, Panagiotis Sentonas.
Minister of Education: "The operation of KEPLI in Famagusta marks a new beginning"
Welcoming him at the inauguration ceremony, the Minister of Education and Culture referred to the operation of the first Youth Information Center for the province of Famagusta in Sotira, saying that it marks a new beginning, which he hopes will put on a more solid footing the development of young people in the area.
Referring to the reforms and changes in the Cyprus Youth Organization and in the field of Youth in general, he noted the efforts made to implement the National Youth Strategy, which for the first time, as he said, is being developed in Cyprus and which substantially coordinates and upgrades set of policy decisions and programs for young people.
He also stressed that young people want and can be agents of positive change in our country, while he did not fail to emphasize the fact that the National Youth Strategy is not a theoretical text but is already being implemented with a number of programs that have been announced. by ONEK and have been included in the state budgets.

The purpose of KEPLI is to provide valid information on a number of issues related to the interests of young people, in a comfortable, modern and friendly environment. At the same time, they aim to guide young people to their full integration into society as independent individuals, but also to solve difficulties they may face.

In his greeting, Mayor Sotiras, Georgios Takkas noted that the inauguration of the new Famagusta Youth Information Center of the Cyprus Youth Organization in Sotira is part of President Anastasiadis' announcements for the free Famagusta but also for the Minister of Education, Costas Kadis for the support offered by the Ministry in the promotion and implementation of important infrastructure projects in Sotira, such as the reconstruction of the Municipal Stadium Sotira and the implementation of the Center for Social Benefits.
He even mentioned that in cooperation with the Cyprus Youth Organization, they will implement the common vision for the new generation, creating infrastructure and offering opportunities to the youth.
After the greetings, a music program from the Famagusta Music School followed.
The Youth Information Center in the province of Famagusta
The establishment of the Famagusta District Youth Information Center is particularly important, since the physical presence of the Youth Organization - a competent state body for youth issues - will henceforth cover all the provinces of Cyprus, if there are already Youth Information Centers (KEPLI) in Lefkosia, Limassol, Larnaca, Paphos and Agro. This ensures equal access of young people to programs and services of the Organization, as well as their immediate information on education, training, mobility and volunteering opportunities provided in Cyprus and abroad.
It is noted that the implementation of the Famagusta District Youth Information Center was done in collaboration with the Municipality of Sotiras, which has also shouldered the lease of the space in which it is hosted. The Center is located at 39 Griva Digeni Avenue in Sotira and will operate according to the standards of the Youth Information Centers of Europe.
The Pancyprian Youth Information Centers, as well as that of Famagusta, provide essentially one stop shop services to young people:
- Counseling services, such as career guidance and guidance, psychological support, support for young people in entrepreneurship, etc.
- Youth skills development programs.
- Information on employment opportunities, education, training, European programs, etc.
- Information on policies and opportunities that exist in Europe for young people, since KEPLI are contact points of the Eurodesk Cyprus network.
Finally, it is pointed out that the services of the Center are offered free of charge and all young people in the Province of Famagusta are welcome to visit the site, meet interesting programs and live new experiences.
The first informative event of the new KEPLI Famagusta will take place next Wednesday, 17/01/2017 at 16:30 in the afternoon and its theme is to inform young people about the sponsorship plans to strengthen Juvenile and Women Entrepreneurship
