A fire broke out after a vehicle caught fire on the Larnaca-Ayia Napa highway, but was brought under full control.

An announcement by the Department of Forests of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment states that around 13:00, after a vehicle caught fire on the Larnaca - Ayia Napa highway, within the administrative boundaries of the Municipality of Sotiras, a fire broke out, which spread to the foundations and road, as well as adjacent agricultural land.
The fire was brought under full control at 13:40 after it burned an area of three dozen with dry grass and low wild vegetation. To extinguish it, seven people from the Fire Service worked with two fire trucks, as well as three people from the Forest Department with one fire truck.
