The assurance that the building works for the construction of the Metochi of Agios Ephraim and Agia Ekaterina in Cabo Greko will not continue, until the completion of the legal proceedings, was given in a letter to the Municipality of Agia Napa by Metropolitan Basilios of Constantia and Famagusta.

In his letter, dated April 4, the Metropolitan responded to a letter from the Municipality of Ayia Napa dated March 20 regarding the plot in Ayia Napa, on which the Metochio of Saint Ephraim and Saint Catherine in Cape Greco began to be erected.

Specifically, in his reply letter, the Metropolitan of Constantia states that "following the letter and our previous telephone communication on the matter, we inform you that we have fully complied with the content of the letter and have suspended all construction work within the most specific section".

We have proceeded, it added, "by filing a hierarchical appeal against the enforcement notice on April 3, 2024. The hierarchical appeal to date (April 4) has not yet been considered."

It is also stated that "in the event that the hierarchical appeal is not approved, we will proceed with the registration of an appeal to the Administrative Court. If the appeal is not successful and the applications for granting a permit by way of derogation are not approved, we are committed to proceed with the demolition of all the builders within the most specific block".

In the letter of the Metropolitan of Constantia and Famagusta it is added that "until the completion of the legal proceedings we will not proceed with any construction work on the block".

It is also noted that "in view of our commitment to demolish the buildings erected within the plot if the relevant permits are not issued in the context of the pending procedures, we consider it completely premature and in bad faith to take any action that will advance their outcome and we reserve the legal right in the event that you take action before the pending proceedings are completed."
