Thanks to the immediate actions and the arrival of aid from Israel in just 7 hours, the life of a 29-year-old woman from Vrysoules was saved, who had complications after giving birth.

Specifically, the 29-year-old was initially transported to the General Hospital of Famagusta where she was diagnosed with a myocardial infarction and was transported to the General Hospital of Nicosia where she underwent a long operation and was found to have four closed arteries.

Her health condition required immediate transfer to Israel as the Nicosia General Hospital, where the young woman was being treated, did not have an ECMO machine that would save her life, and the doctors began to lose hope.

So they appealed to their colleagues in Israel and the Leviev Heart Center to help them. In just 7 hours, a team of four specialists transported ECMO to Nicosia and saved the life of the 29-year-old.

The woman was airlifted to Sheba Hospital where she is being treated and receiving technical support. A transplant is now being sought as a heart transplant is deemed necessary, while the community of Vrysoula is trying in every way to help the 29-year-old and her family financially.

It is noted that the 29-year-old gave birth at the end of September and the baby is in excellent health.

ECMO is an in vitro technique for providing sustained cardiac and respiratory support to individuals whose hearts and lungs are unable to provide enough oxygen or perspiration to keep them alive.
