The Holy Metropolis of Constantia - Famagusta and the University of Cyprus announce the beginning of the eighth cycle of lectures of the Salamis Free University of Famagusta.
This year, as in the previous academic year, there will be four meetings in the form of a roundtable discussion. In each meeting, two or more speakers will give a short talk on a common topic, followed by a discussion.
All meetings will take place at the Cultural Center of the Holy Metropolis of Constantia-Famagusta, 13 Filikis Etaireias, Paralimni (Alley of Protaras Avenue, opposite the church of Agia Varvara to the Refugee Settlement).
The opening ceremony will take place on Thursday, October 18, 2018. Upon completion of the lectures, during the closing ceremony (May 16, 2019), Certificates of Attendance will be awarded to participants.
The first meeting of the 8th cycle, on Thursday, October 18, 2018, at 7:00 pm, will have as its general theme "Hellenism in the modern world: creation, stagnation or decline?" with rapporteurs the Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Nikos Christodoulidis and the Rector of the University of Cyprus Professor Konstantinos Christofidis. The distinguished speakers will address the issue of the presence and prospects of Hellenism in the modern world from a political, economic and cultural point of view, focusing in particular on Cypriot Hellenism.
At the end of the lecture the participants will have the opportunity to ask questions to the speakers and to raise issues for discussion.
