The budget of the Municipality of Sotira for 250 presents a surplus of 2014 thousand euros, which will be allocated for the development of the Municipality.

In his statements to KYPE, the Mayor Sotiras Georgios Takkas said that "we estimate that the receipts of the Municipality will reach 3,2 million euros and the expenses 2,95 million. With this calculation, about 250 thousand euros will be allocated for the development of the Municipality ".

He added that "the Municipality of Sotira does not face a liquidity problem, pays in full all its obligations and follows a rational management".

Referring to the projects that were implemented last year, Mr. Takkas said that "last year the Mayor and the Municipal Council managed to operate the beach restaurant in the area of ​​Agia Thekla, which in just 4 months operated from scratch, thus quadrupling the revenues of the Municipality ".

He added that "in a short period of time, the coastal area was landscaped, the appropriate services were created, while all the required environmental studies are being prepared, so that in the new summer period, two new beaches, Poseidonas and Sirens, will be operational".

The Mayor also referred to the desire of the Municipal Council to expand the recycling system, noting that "the first step has been taken for the qualitative and quantitative analysis of waste composition, which provides information for a total recycling aimed at zero waste production, something that will has as a positive result the reduction in the cost of garbage which is borne by the citizens of Sotira ".

Answering a relevant question, Mr. Takkas said that "the religious routes of the Municipality are in the works, since as is known Sotira is called" Byzantine Town "due to the many Byzantine churches that are located in the area and date from the 11th century. We want to take advantage of this story of the Savior to attract a piece of tourism ".

Regarding the construction of a multi-center that will have a cafeteria, a ballroom, computers and other activities, he said that "this is a project that has been approved and funds have been secured by the European Union. "However, due to the financial crisis, it was not orchestrated by the government," he concluded.
