Snow, fog and heavy traffic make up the scene in Troodos, according to a recent police statement on the road network, urging drivers to be careful, while recommending the use of roads leading to Troodos only for vehicles equipped with chains or all-wheel drive.

Regarding the weather, the Meteorological Department predicts that for tonight the weather will be mostly cloudy with local rains and severe thunderstorms. It is snowing in the mountains and in some mountainous areas. The temperature will drop to 4 degrees inland, around 8 on the coast and to -2 degrees in the higher mountains, where frost is expected.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, the weather will be initially mostly cloudy with the possibility of heavy rains, while in the mountains it is possible for snow or sleet to fall. Gradually the weather will improve. The temperature will rise to 12 degrees inland, around 14 on the coast and 2 degrees in the higher mountains.

Tomorrow night the weather will be partly cloudy. The winds will blow mainly northwesterly patients, 3 degrees, and the sea will be a little turbulent.

On Wednesday the weather will initially be mostly clear but in the late afternoon it will become mostly cloudy and in the evening local rains, snowstorms and snow in the mountains will be lit. The temperature will rise.

On Thursday the weather will be partly cloudy at times and local rains, thunderstorms and snow in the mountains are expected. The temperature will drop slightly.

On Friday the weather will be cloudy with rain, local storms and snow in the mountains and mountains. The temperature will drop further slightly.

Announcement of the Police

The Police recommends caution to drivers for the situation prevailing on roads in mountainous areas, due to frost and landslides, while recommending the use of roads leading to Troodos only for vehicles equipped with chains or four-wheel drive.

The area is foggy, which limits visibility, while there is heavy traffic.

According to the Police, regarding the mountainous areas, the old Alonas-Agros road is closed to all vehicles.

As for the road Spilia - Lagouderon, it is closed due to a landslide of a large volume of soil.

At the same time, due to frost, all roads leading to Troodos (Prodromou-Troodos, Platron-Troodos and Karvouna-Troodos) are open only to vehicles equipped with anti-skid chains or with all-wheel drive. The area is densely foggy and visibility is limited.

The roads Kakopetria - Karvouna, Pedoula - Prodromou and Pedoula - Kakopetria (Pinewood), are open to all vehicles but slippery, due to frost.

Also on the roads Pedoula - Kykkou - Kampos, Kykkou - Milikouri and Kampos - Orkonda, there have been landslides, resulting in dangerous.

Police urge drivers to be extremely careful, to drive at low speeds, to have their traffic lights on and to keep safe distances from their vehicles in front.
