The loans of the Municipalities amount to the excess amount of 588.177.528 euros, said the Minister of Interior Socrates Hasikos in his response to the Mayor of Limassol Andreas Christou for the debts of the Municipalities.
Of the 588.177.528, 342.731.751 euros are paid by the Municipalities, while the remaining 245.445.777 are paid by the Republic of Cyprus.
Specifically, the Minister of Interior responds to today's article by the Mayor of Limassol published in the daily press entitled "The debts of the Municipalities", and clarifies that in his Annual Report for 2013, Annex 16, p. 489, the Auditor General of the Republic records the amount of 588.177.528 Euros, as loans of Municipalities (attached).
It is noted that from the above amount, 342.731.751 Euros are paid by the Municipalities, while the remaining 245.445.777 Euros are paid by the Republic of Cyprus but always concern loans of the Municipalities ".
In addition to the above amounts and given that the article of the Mayor of Limassol refers to debts and not only loans, we must say, notes Mr. Hasikos, that in addition to the loans that the Municipalities have, there are other debts to Government Departments / Services, as well as overdrafts from Banks ".
