Cyprus is celebrating its Independence Day today

Cyprus today celebrates the 57th anniversary of the declaration of independence of the Republic of Cyprus.

At 11 in the morning, the established military parade of motorized and pedestrian units will take place on Iosif XI Iosif Street, in Strovolos.

Before the start of the parade, the official reception will take place at the parade site of the President of the Republic, Nikos Anastasiadis, during which 21 salute cannons will be thrown, followed by the official raising of the flag and the rejection of the National Anthem.

Earlier, the President of the Republic will lay a wreath at the Prisoners' Memorials and then at the statue of Ethnarch Makarios III at the Presidential Palace.

Then, at 1030, he will receive the Minister of National Defense of Greece, Panos Kammenos.

In 1430 the President of the Republic will host a reception for the members of the Diplomatic Corps at the Presidential Palace, while in 1830 he will attend an event for the anniversary of Independence at the Presidential Palace.
