Within the framework of the 11th Pancyprian Watermelon Festival, the Community Council of Frenaros in collaboration with the CTO organizes the 1st Seminar for the presentation of recipes based on watermelon.
Along with the seminar we will have a watermelon decoration workshop.
The seminar will be presented by the distinguished chef and instructor George Kyprianou while the Watermelons Carving workshop will be coordinated by chefs Petros Anastasiou and Andreas Kapassis.
This seminar is addressed to professional chefs and restaurants.
The seminar is scheduled for Monday, July 10, 2017 from 10:00 am. until 2:00 p.m. at the ZAPPEION PALACE Banquet Hall in Deryneia.
The 11th Pancyprian Watermelon Festival
Continuing the long tradition, the Frenaros Community Council organizes this year the 11th Pancyprian Watermelon Festival at the Frenaros Community Stadium, on July 14, 2017, at 8:15 pm.
The primary goal of the Festival is to promote watermelon cultivation. During the Festival, the visitor will taste sweet watermelon, watermelon ice cream as well as watermelon cocktail. With the participation of almost all the organized ensembles of our community, the visitor will have the opportunity to get acquainted with traditional professions, such as the preparation of the traditional Kokkinochoriati halloumi and the construction of traditional chairs. For our little friends there will be sections with face paintings (Face Paintings) with the theme of watermelon and children's constructions. It is also worth mentioning the charitable nature of the Festival as the participating organized ensembles have the opportunity to sell food, drinks, traditional products, constructions and other products. The event will culminate with songs and music by Nikolas Dimas, Mikaella Hadjiefraim, Michalis Leventis and Giota Christou.
With the support of the Cyprus Tourism Organization and with the contribution of well-known Cypriot chefs, a specialized seminar will be organized for professional chefs and restaurants, on "Creations in the kitchen with watermelon", on July 10, 2017, at the Zappeion reception hall in Deryneia , from 10 am-14pm, with suggestions for a complete menu of appetizers, mainly dishes and desserts based on watermelon, as well as a workshop with decorative watermelon engraving.
The 11th Pancyprian Watermelon Festival is under the auspices of the Minister of Interior, Mr. Konstantinos Petridis and will be addressed by the Minister of Education, Mr. Costas Kadis.
