The Ministry of Labor and Insurance Societies evaluates as positive and encouraging the first results from the issuance of the Decree for the expansion of the areas in which tourist hours are applied.

A statement from the Ministry stated that "these results, which emerged after frequent inspections of shops, department stores and small businesses in all provinces, confirm the correctness of this decision, which aimed to remove restrictions, which in the current economic crisis do not help to stimulate economy and also to give all shops equal treatment ”.

As it is noted, from the inspections but also from some complaints made to the Ministry of Labor, individual violations of the labor legislation were identified, complaints that are under investigation by the Department of Labor Relations of the Ministry.

It is added that the Minister of Labor and Insurance Societies, Zeta Aimilianidou, gave clear instructions to the competent Service for not showing leniency in cases where labor law violations are registered and criminal prosecutions are registered.

It is reported that a total of 457 vacancies were notified to the Employment Offices throughout Cyprus and several placements were made, while the process continues. In addition, there are companies that proceed with direct recruitment, without informing the relevant services, it adds.

The announcement reminds that the Decree operates voluntarily, in the sense that every entrepreneur can decide the days and hours of operation of his store.

As it is known, the announcement concludes, the additional working time resulting from the above regulation will be covered by 50% with newly hired staff from the lists of the unemployed of the Public Employment Service, within the plan of the Ministry for Flexible Forms of Employment. This Plan concerns the employment of employees, even part-time, covering 65% of their salary.
