Independent MP Zacharias Koulias criticized the previous and the current government for the current situation in Cyprus from the floor of the Plenary Session of the Parliament.

In his speech during the discussion on the state budget of 2014, Zacharias Koulias referred to the achievements of the government of Tassos Papadopoulos, at the same time criticizing the previous government under Dimitris Christofias for its mistakes and omissions both in terms of the economy. as well as in relation to the Cyprus issue.

He also criticized the current government and the President of the Republic Nikos Anastasiadis, who, as he said, may have inherited a difficult situation and a minefield, "instead of demining, he pressed the button" and accepted the deposit haircut which destroyed the bank credit .

To add that of course not only Mr. Anastasiadis was responsible but also the Cypriot people, who "had another choice in the presidential elections".

Zacharias Koulias also referred to the Cyprus issue, saying that in terms of invasion and occupation, it has been degraded to such an extent that only the issue of sovereignty is discussed.

"We are only discussing the issue of sovereignty and the Turks have brought us to where they wanted. "We forgot everything," he said.

"It simply came to our notice then. What is the European acquis? What are human rights? ” He wondered and warned that if the Greek Cypriot side accepts today a jointly announced hermaphrodite then "we will return to what Mr. Anastasiadis furiously supported in the Annan Plan".

"And I'm very afraid that all these tricks are done to get back to what we believed in," he added.

He finally referred to an interview with President Anastasiadis 17 months ago when asked if he wanted to say mea culpa about the Annan Plan and he replied, according to Mr. Koulias, that "the Plan was not implemented to see if it is good or bad."

"That is why those who furiously backed him and made him President, it is time to show the President that we must really respect the decision of the ruling people in the 2004 referendum," he added.
