A basic condition for the proper functioning and performance of the body is its good hydration.

Thus, it is important to ensure adequate water intake daily, and even before the onset of thirst, which is not the best indicator for assessing hydration levels.

In particular, we should know that when the feeling of thirst occurs we have already lost about 2% of our weight in water, while even a loss of 1% is enough to cause inability to concentrate and perform.

On the other hand, lack of water worsens constipation and affects kidney function.

In general, the daily intake of 2 and 2,5 liters of fluid for women and men respectively, is considered adequate.

However, the above recommendation may be high for some and low for others, as the needs of each individual vary depending on the ambient temperature, body size and levels of physical activity.

But how can anyone tell if they are consuming enough fluids? A simple indicator is to monitor the color of the urine, which should be light yellow.

Thus, the darker the urine, the greater the chance of insufficient hydration. Therefore, be sure to check the color of your urine daily to see if you need to increase the amount of water you consume.
