Meeting of the Minister of Commerce with Mayor Sotiras and businessmen from Famagusta

The Minister of Energy, Trade, Industry and Tourism Mr. George Lakkotrypis had a meeting today, November 15, at the Municipal Palace of Paralimni with the Mayor Sotiras, Mr. Georgios Takkas, the Mayors of Paralimni, Deryneia and Ayia Napa. of the Famagusta Tourism Industrial Company (TEVEA). The purpose of the meeting was to discuss various issues that concern both the local authorities and the business world of the free Province of Famagusta.

The meeting focused on developments on the issue of open ethers. The Minister said that great efforts are being made by the Ministry to conclude agreements with charterers and tour operators from Russia for the descent of as many tourists as possible during the winter.

Other issues discussed were the permanent position of TEVEA and the local authorities of the free Province of Famagusta for the creation of development projects in the Province. In addition, issues were discussed such as the operating costs of hotel units and other tourism businesses (electricity, sewerage, water, garbage, etc.) which has risen to enormous heights, the need for more intense promotion of our tourism product compared to previous years, the request of the business world for the provision of free wireless internet in tourist areas, the problems of industrial areas, etc.

Present at the meeting were the heads of local authorities, the Mayor Sotiras Mr. George Takkas, the Mayor of Paralimni Mr. Theodoros Pyrillis, the Mayor of Ayia Napa Mr. Giannis Karousos, the Mayor of Deryneia Mr. Andros Karagionos, Mr. Andros Karagianos Michalis Kaounas and Frenarous Mr. Nikos Kourris and businessmen-members of the Steering Committee of TEVEA. The meeting was coordinated by the President of TEVEA Mr. Petros Petrou.
