Two tourists from Italy were injured and are being held at Paralimni General Hospital for treatment, after an attack that, according to the Police, they suffered together with eight other compatriots by security men, while they were in a beer hall in Ayia Napa at dawn on Tuesday.

As the spokesman of the Police Headquarters, Andreas Angelidis, stated to KYPE, "according to the Police examinations so far, around 05:30 on Tuesday morning, 12 tourists were in a specific brewery in Ayia Napa, when at some point two of them they broke three glasses.

"People who worked in the brewery as security men took the tourists out of the building, while the remaining 10 compatriots left the area and started protesting." He added that "based on the complaints made by the ten tourists, it seems that the brewery security guards attacked them, resulting in six of the foreigners being injured.

They were taken to the First Aid Department of Paralimni General Hospital and four of them, who had bruises on their face and hands, after receiving first aid were fired. The other two tourists were detained at the hospital for further treatment. "

Mr. Angelidis noted that "deposits are taken from both tourists and security guards. "The police are conducting specific investigations and examinations so that, after gathering some information, arrest warrants can be obtained against the persons involved in the incident, which is being thoroughly investigated by the Police."
