The best year of all times for tourist arrivals and revenues from tourism will be this year, said the Minister of Energy, Trade, Industry and Tourism George Lakkotrypis, after a meeting at the Ministry with the leadership of DISY, which was headed by the President of the party Averof Neophytou.

Mr. Lakkotrypis said that he informed DISY about the latest developments in two very important issues that concern the citizen, such as the latest developments in tourism and the issues of the Insolvency Framework.

The Minister of Commerce said that they agreed with DISY that “it is very important to proceed without regressions the course we have set both in terms of arrivals and tourism revenues but very important for the reforms in the tourism industry that is so important for the economy of our place ”.

In relation to tourism, Mr. Lakkotrypis said that he informed the leadership of DISY that "as everything shows this year we will have the best year of all time both in terms of tourist arrivals and in terms of revenue" , adding that "the increase that appears in the winter months is very important".

"It is very important to win the seasonality bet, which is reflected in the numbers we see in relation to the reduction of unemployment in the tourism industry," he said, adding that much of the reduction in unemployment we have seen in recent months is due to in the performance of the tourism industry ”.

Mr. Christoforou also said that “the current Government in practice proves its social sensitivity with the Insolvency Framework that essentially protects the Cypriot citizens and as far as the first home but also the vulnerable groups with the borrowing that essentially protects both the first debtor and the first debtor. the guarantors ”.

The head of the Insolvency Service, George Karotsakis, said that in practice it proves that the Insolvency Framework is working, adding that 8.500 bankrupts out of 10.000 have already been rehabilitated and the rest will be released in the coming months.

Regarding the discharge of debts up to 25.000 euros, Mr. Karotsakis said that 40 cases have already been registered in court and we will continue at the same pace in the coming weeks.

He added that not only debtors but also their guarantors have the benefit of the exemption, adding that applications for debt restructuring of natural persons, including the protection of the main residence, have also been submitted to the courts.
