Cyprus ranks first in the world in terms of caesarean section, with a rate of 53,5%. On the occasion of the 8th postgraduate conference of Pediatrics, the neonatologist Thalia Papadouri told RIK that newborns born by caesarean section may present with childhood asthma, type XNUMX diabetes and an increased rate of gluten intolerance. He noted, however, that caesarean section can save the lives of mothers and children in many cases.
Neonatologist Christina Karaoli referred to the huge increase in children born prematurely worldwide, ie between 37 and 39 weeks.
