The potato growers also decided to leave the Agricultural Insurance Organization and voluntarily insure with it, claiming in any way their compensations for the years 2009, 2010 and 2011 and renewing the National Plan for the potato cultivation for the period 2014 -.
The gathering, organized by the Coordinating Committee of Potato Producers, was attended by the Agricultural Organizations PEK, EKA, AGROTIKI and PANAGROTIKOS as well as MPs of all parties.
The potato growers decided to raise the problems they have been facing for years to the President of the Republic during a meeting they are expected to have with him, the settlement of which was undertaken by the General Secretary of EKA Panikos Hambas.
In his statements, the Chairman of the Coordinating Committee of Potato Producers, Nikos Vassilas, stated that "the gathering decided to leave OGA and there will be voluntary insurance. We will also claim in any way our other two requests, until we are justified in order to be able to maintain potato cultivation ".
He explained that the other two demands of the potato growers are "the payment of the compensation that has not been given for the years 2009, 2010 and 2011. Also the renewal of the National Plan for the potato cultivation from 2014 to 2020, which will change the Regulations of the European Union ".
Answering a question about the problem that potato growers face with OGA, Mr. Vassilas said that "the problems with the Organization are many. "That's why the producers want to leave, since basically all they do is pay and get nothing back."
