Two arrests for theft in Ayia Napa

Two Bangladeshis were arrested in Ayia Napa yesterday and taken into custody to facilitate police investigations into investigated property theft cases.

According to police, the two men, aged 24 and 25, living in Ayia Napa, were arrested in their possession when pairs of sunglasses, men's watches, mobile phones, cameras, gold coins and gold necklaces were found in their possession.

The two men were identified following reports that they were looking for buyers to sell electronics. An i-pad was found in the possession of one. With their written consent, the Police searched the house where one of the two men lived, where the stolen goods were located.

The two men did not give satisfactory answers to the Police for the possession of those found, as a result of which they were arrested and taken into custody.

Later today, they are expected to be brought before the Famagusta District Court for a detention order.
