The Municipality of Ayia Napa honored recurring tourists from Sweden today, awarding them honorary distinctions.
According to a written statement, "during a modest ceremony held at the City Hall, three couples and three individuals, all from Sweden, were honored with a plaque and proclaimed by Deputy Mayor Christos Zannetto" Ambassador of Tourism of Agia Na ".
They are Marie Coughlan, who visited Ayia Napa 40 times, Kerstin Persson with 33 visits and Britt Engman with 23 visits.
Also honored were Anders and Lena Franzen, who visited Ayia Napa 22 times, Rolf and Mayny Elgbratt, with 22 visits, and Jonas Assar and Kajsa Sylvia Margareta Bystrom, with 25 visits.
Christos Zannettos expressed "heartfelt thanks to the honorees", noted that "Ayia Napa has remained a permanent tourist destination for their holidays for decades" and added that "through their repeated visits the city is promoted abroad".
He added that the nine people in total "justly and deservedly have won the highest distinction of the Ambassador of Tourism" since, as he explained, "they represent Ayia Napa in the best and most convincing way in their country".
