As every year, citizens are invited to participate in this global symbolic movement, turning off the lights for an hour and thus sending their message to save the environment… 

The event, which starts at 7.30 pm at the Presidential Palace, is co-organized with the Ministry of Agriculture, Natural Resources and Environment, the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Federation of Environmental Organizations of Cyprus. The President of the Republic Dimitris Christofias will address a greeting. The "Earth Hour" will last until 9.30 pm and the events in Cyprus are coordinated by the Movement of Environmentalists and the Youth of Ecologists.

Earth Hour is a WWF Global Initiative to tackle the effects of climate change. Last year, more than 5.200 cities in 135 countries around the world turned off the lights, sending a strong message of action against climate change.
