Prosecution investigation for the power outages in Athens

The Prosecutor's Office of First Instance is launching a criminal investigation into the multi-day power outage in thousands of homes in Athens during the severe weather.

In order to investigate the possibility of committing the offense of disturbing the operation of a public utility, the Prosecutor's Office of First Instance will conduct a preliminary examination so that if and when responsibilities arise, they can be attributed to each person in charge.

The reason for the prosecutor's intervention was not only what is published in the media but also complaints that -according to information- the Prosecutor's Office received with dozens of phone calls from citizens stating that they are two or even three 24 hours without electricity and heating and can not cover basic their needs

The investigation was undertaken by the Prosecutor of the Court of First Instance, Apostolos Andreou.
