Two suspicious cases of the Omicron mutation of the coronavirus have been identified and are being examined in Athens, according to the Greek Minister of Health, Thanos Plevris.

Mr. Plevris clarified that the suspicious cases that are under investigation are irrelevant to the confirmed first case of Crete. "They are from our fellow citizens who are in other regions and came from the specific countries. At the moment, they are ill and we are monitoring whether their illness is combined with Omicron or Delta ", said Mr. Plevris, adding that the suspicious cases are also in Athens.

The two new suspected cases, it appears from the PCR gene analysis, are most likely due to the new Omicron mutation, but this remains to be confirmed. According to information, the condition of both patients is good as they show mild symptoms and are monitored while staying at home.
