They decided to travel from Indianapolis to Michigan to visit "Steve's Pizza" and eat a pizza with pepperoni and mushrooms. This was their favorite pizza and the couple was determined to do several miles to eat it together one last time.
But before they could even begin their journey, Ritz's health deteriorated to the point where he ended up in a nursing home, with doctors informing his family that the 80-year-old did not have many days to live.
Ritz's son contacted the pizzeria to inform them of the situation and ask if it was easy for them to send a card to his father. The phone was picked up by 18-year-old Dalton Saffer, but he had a better idea…
Instead of writing a card, he decided to make a pizza and went to deliver it. In other words, he did 362 kilometers, in order to give Ritz the joy of tasting his favorite food one last time. It is worth mentioning that the specific store does not deliver… even in the nearby areas!
