Secure information indicates that there is currently a Commission recommendation and not a ban. It is not excluded that there will be announcements on the subject this afternoon at the Ministry of Health, by the chair of the Committee, professor of Pediatrics, Maria Theodoridou.

The members of the Committee are expected to meet tomorrow, Tuesday, as every week. In our country so far, citizens over 30 years of age are vaccinated with the AstraZeneca vaccine.

It should be noted that in Greece they have been recorded seven cases of thromboembolic events, three of which were fatal.

It is recalled that yesterday, Sunday, the head of his action group EMA to address the pandemic, said states should avoid giving the vaccine AstraZeneca and to citizens over 60 years of age.

"In the context of the pandemic, our position was and is that the benefits outweigh the risks for all age groups," said the head of the task force. COVID-19 Marco Cavaleri in the Italian newspaper La Stampa. However, as the number of incidents COVID-19 and given that the younger population is less exposed to the risks associated with COVID-19, Cavaleri said it would be better to use vaccines COVID-19 mRNA technology, such as those of Moderna and Pfizer-BioNTech. Asked if health authorities should avoid giving the Astrazeneca vaccine to people over the age of 60, Cavaleri said: "Germany is looking at it in the light of the greater availability of mRNA vaccines."

Ο European Medicines Agency has said for months that it considers the vaccine safe for all age groups, however, some EU member states have stopped giving it to young people and usually give it to citizens over 50 years.
