Swiss Army: Prohibits WhatsApp, turning to a Swiss application

WhatsApp, Signal and Telegram are banned by the Swiss Army. Turn to the Swiss application Threema to improve security and prevent data leakage to third parties. The problem with "uniformed" selfies from recruits and videos with viral blunders and accidents. 

The Swiss Army now bans the use of the WhatsApp application for the mobile phones of those on duty in an effort to secure and prevent data leakage to third parties.

The ban, which was officially confirmed by the military, extends to other messaging applications, such as Signal and Telegram.

The reason for the change in policy is data security.

In 2016, a small scandal broke out in the army ranks, with the leaders ordering the cessation of taking selfies and posting photos in MKD, as well as posting "racist or sexist content".

As reported at the time, there was a "particular problem with female recruits who obsessively photographed themselves during military service and posted them on their personal accounts." Swiss newspapers had republished many of the photos.
