The case of the beheading of a 17-year-old girl by her own father in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh in India is causing horror. Sarvesh Kumar was arrested while walking towards the police station, holding the severed head of the girl in his hands.
In a video recorded by police, he is heard to say that he was angry with the relationship that his daughter allegedly had with a man, whom she did not like, according to the BBC.
Hundreds of people are killed every year in India because they fall in love or marry people who are not approved by their families.
In the video, the man is heard saying that he recently discovered his daughter's relationship and this fact angered him. She also said she found her alone at home, locked her in a room and beheaded her with a sharp object.
