Woman tortured and raped in "palace of terror"

The girl herself confessed to her parents

Walid Alhathoul, the brother of activist Luhan Alhathoul, spoke about the brutal torture of his sister in prison in Saudi Arabia in an article he shared with the American CNN.

In the text, the man explains that the girl herself confessed to her parents when they went to visit her that she is often beaten, tortured with electricity and sexually harassed in a basement called "Palace of terror".

Alhathoul was arrested in May 2018 along with ten other activists fighting for women's rights in Saudi Arabia. Both her family and Human Rights Watch denounced the miserable conditions in which she is being held.

In fact, they point out that a former close associate of Prince Mohammed bin Salman was present during the torture, while according to Human Rights Watch, he threatened to rape, kill and throw another prisoner into the sewer system.

According to the allegations, the same man was also involved in the murder of Saudi journalist Jamal Kasogi, whose traces disappeared on October 2 inside his country's consulate in Istanbul.

Many media outlets, including CNN, tried to locate the man but were unsuccessful. A Riyadh official, however, had ruled out torture in prison in recent months in a statement.

"When Luhan was talking to my parents about the torture she was going through, her hands were shaking.", wrote Wallid. She also reported that one of the investigators tried to force her to marry him by threatening her with rape.
