Another Greece!
A city with 96.000 inhabitants built on the south shore of Lake Ontario, is a real Greece of America. The Town of Greece, as its name implies, belongs to the state of New York and was founded on March 22, 1822. Its name was chosen due to the interest and support that existed at that time to the Greeks who fought for their independence.
In August 1954, the official emblem of the city was designed, strengthening its Greek character. Its emblem is a circle on a white background, representing the shield of the warriors of ancient Greece. In the center of the circle is designed an old lighthouse of the area.
The emblem also has lightning, which symbolizes power and energy. Its colors are tile, yellow - gold and black, shades used in the decorations of ancient Greek ceramics. As for the motto of the city, it is "Discover the promise".
