Facebook announced today that it has 'downloaded' 1,3 billion fake accounts between October and December and that it has more than 35.000 people dealing with misinformation on its platform.

The company also withdrew more than 12 million posts for COVID-19 and the vaccines, which health experts around the world considered to be misinformation, according to a Facebook blog post.

False allegations and conspiracy theories about coronavirus vaccines spread on social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter during the pandemic.

The announcement by Facebook of data on misinformation comes in view of an audit by the Energy and Commerce Committee of the US House of Representatives on how technology platforms, including Facebook, deal with misinformation.
