Qassem Suleimani, who led the Revolutionary Guards operations abroad, and Abu Mahdi al-Mahdi, Iraqi paramilitary forces have been killed in a bomb blast near Baghdad's international airport.

Several sources close to the Iraqi security forces and the DLK (or "Hasd al-Saabi" in Arabic) confirmed that Suleimani and Muhaddis were among at least eight people killed in the airport bombing.
