The US embassy in the Turkish capital, Ankara, will remain closed to the public tomorrow due to a security threat and only emergency services will be provided, a statement issued Sunday night said.
Visa interviews and other services will not take place, according to the embassy, which added that it will make announcements as soon as it is ready to reopen.
In addition, the embassy advises American citizens in Turkey to avoid large crowds and the embassy building and to be on the lookout for their safety when visiting tourist attractions and crowded areas. It is not clear what exactly was the threat that led to the decision to close the embassy.
