The White House today confirmed that the meeting between Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin will take place as planned, despite calls for its cancellation, following the referral of Russian agents to the investigation into Moscow's involvement in the US presidential election.
"It will be done," said Sarah Saunders, a spokeswoman for the US presidency.
Several elected officials, including the leader of the Democratic minority in the Senate, Chuck Sumer, had demanded the cancellation of the two leaders' one-on-one meeting.
