The British government has announced that from 24 October fully vaccinated travelers to England from non-red list countries will be able to take the rapid lateral flow test as a coronavirus test on the second day of arrival.

Until the 24th of the month, the obligation of the second day test to be the significantly more expensive molecular test type PCR will apply.

The change has been a constant demand of the travel industry to reduce the cost of international travel and will be implemented in time for British family travel in the last week of October, when schools are traditionally closed.

Travelers arriving in England must have pre-ordered the fast result test from an approved private provider. The list of providers will be published on the government website. After taking the test, until the second day of arrival, they must send a photo of the result and the test code back to the company for registration.

There will also be the option of testing at special centers at UK airports.

Unvaccinated guests will continue to need two PCR tests upon arrival in the UK, as well as stay in home isolation for ten days, a requirement that does not apply to fully vaccinated and minors.

It is noted that the obligation for tests before departure to England for fully vaccinated travelers has also been abolished.
