22-year-old winner Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters recently received her degree in business administration from North-West University.
Her passion for self-defense arose when she was attacked at gunpoint about a month after winning the title of "Miss South Africa", as she explains in a videotaped message on the website of the beauty contest.
The first runner-up is 22-year-old "Miss Colombia" Laura González, who is studying acting in Bogota, while the second runner-up is 21-year-old "Miss Jamaica" model Davina Bennett and marketing student.
