Hell's night in Paris with seven dead in a burning building

Residents were calling for help from the windows and others were seeking shelter on the roof

At least seven people have been killed and 28 others injured in a fire that broke out overnight in a high-rise apartment building in Paris. One of the injured is serious, according to the French newspaper Le Parisien, while authorities express fears that the death toll could rise, as the fire raged for hours on the 7th and 8th floors of the building.

The burning building, built in the 70s, is located in the 16th arrondissement of the city, at 17 Erlanger Street.

Firefighters spoke of a very violent fire, the causes of which remain unknown. As the flames spread, panic ensued, with residents calling for help from their windows and others coming to the roof to escape. The Fire Department released at least thirty people from the building.

Two neighboring buildings were also evacuated, as a precaution.
