Facebook chairman and CEO Mark Zuckerberg has agreed to testify before the US House of Representatives on April 11 over the scandal over the exploitation of Facebook users' personal data by Cambridge Analytica, it was announced today by MPs.

The deposition will take place at 10:00 (local time, 17:00 Greek time) on April 11 before the Parliamentary Committee on Trade and Energy, confirmed the Republican President Greg Walden and the Democratic Frank Pallone who is a member. Both expressed hope that Zuckerberg's testimony "will allow Americans to better understand what their personal data is happening on the Internet."

"We appreciate the fact that Zuckerberg agrees to testify before the committee and we are in a hurry to answer our questions on April 11," the MPs said.

It will not be the only interrogation of Mark Zuckerberg by Congress, where the Cambridge Analytica case has caused a scandal. The company, whose services were hired by Donald Trump in 2016, is accused of taking advantage of the personal data of 50 million Facebook users without their knowledge.

The young Facebook president and CEO has also been summoned to give an explanation to the Senate Judiciary Committee on April 10, alongside Google chiefs Sadar Pizza and Twitter chief Jack Dorsey. His candidacy has not been confirmed, but according to a statement from California Democratic Sen. Diane Feinstein in the San Francisco Chronicle, Mark Zuckerberg has initially agreed to testify in the Senate.
